Malo Chapon scored a sensational 15-minute hat-trick on his debut as Shane defeated a
stubborn Badgers team 5-2 at DaZhi.
Spirits were high after Shane’s 5-0 opening day win over Triangle, but these were soon dampened as an early long-range shot from Badgers nestled in the bottom corner, stunning the Shane team.
Shane slowly felt their way back into the game and, following some extensive pressure, equalised ten minutes later through a powerful strike from Lars Fund from the edge of the area, his 4th goal in 2 games.
The game was hard-fought, with the Badgers defence continuing to hold firm against the Shane attack.
However, with halftime looming, Scottish centre forward Patrick Swandell eased the Shane nerves with a brilliant header to make the score 2-1.
The introduction of Frenchman Malo Chapon for the second half proved to be decisive, as his 15-minute hat-trick put the result beyond any reasonable doubt. His first came as fellow debutant Jesse Albers swept a ball in from the right flank for Malo to guide into the net at the near post.
Just minutes later, a deep ball from another debutant, Jesse Vollenbroek, set Malo through on goal for him to calmly stroke it past the oncoming keeper.
But Malo wasn’t done yet, and following a great bit of pressure, he stole the ball from the defender and raced through on goal, completing his hat-trick with another clinical finish.
Badgers added a consolation goal later on but Shane finished the game 5-2 winners.
Man of the match was Malo Chapon for his incredible work rate and direct running that resulted in his debut hat-trick - a brilliant performance.
Special mentions also go to fellow debutants Jesse Albers and Jesse Vollenbroek, whose creative flair spurred Shane on for the victory.
