Shane defeat Warriors 3-0 to continue hot streak
Goals from Jesse Albers, Dirk Boogaard, and Gabriel Felipe ensured Shane remain unbeaten in all competitions this season after defeating Taipei Warriors 3-0 at Xinzhuang.
Shane started the game displaying great defensive resolve, with centre-backs Stu Hayward and Sean Monks snuffing out any signs of a Warriors attack before they could develop. Despite this, Shane struggled to settle into a passing rhythm and often restored to long balls forward.
The deadlock was broken early on though after a smart dummy from Zach Paruch allowed Malo Chapon to release Jesse Albers through on goal. As Jesse closed in on the keeper, the outcome was never in doubt, and he finished clinically to the keepers right.
The next breakthrough occurred when left-back Dirk Boogaard made a trademark run down the left flank, playing a quick one-two with striker Malo Chapon, before calmly finishing into the corner.
The half finished with Shane 2-0 up, but the game far from over.
Shane started the second half much better than the first, playing the ball around well and building from the back with confidence.
With the score still 2-0, an attempted clearance from a Shane corner hit the advancing Felipe and looped into the back of the net to seal the victory.
With Shane up 3-0, Dirk Boogaard continued to wreak havoc with his mazy runs and created several chances that were unlucky not to be converted. Shane also had a big penalty shout turned down, and some questionable offside decisions given against them.
Overall, it was a comfortable victory for Shane, who showed great defensive resolve and never gave Warriors a chance to get back into the game.
Man of the match was Dirk Boogaard for his marauding runs that sparked life into the Shane attacks. Special mentions also go to Stu and Sean for their defensive display and Malo Chapon for his interplay leading up to the opening two goals.
