Shane salvage a point with last gasp free-kick

Zach Paruch scored a free-kick with the last kick of the game to ensure Shane shared the spoils with a good Mambas side.

Mambas flew out of the blocks and could have been a few goals ahead inside the first 15 minutes if it wasn't for the heroics of keeper Adam Lupinski who made some top-drawer saves to keep the scores level.

After settling down, Shane managed to stem the attacks of the Mambas but struggled for clear-cut opportunities themselves, with the game becoming scrappy in the middle of the park.

With 15 minutes to go, Mambas took the lead after a long shot took a couple of ricochets and found its way onto the foot of their striker, who slotted home from close range. A fortuitous goal, but one that Mambas deserved.

As the game drew to a close, Shane threw caution to the wind in search of an equaliser. Our efforts paid off when in the dying embers of the game, we won a free-kick on the edge of the box. Zach stepped up and dispatched the free-kick into the top corner with an exquisite strike. The big American made it five goals in three games as he carried on his run of goal-scoring form.

Shane can take heart from their never-say-die attitude in the closing stages as they never gave up in their search of an equaliser, and their efforts paid off to claim an important point.

Man of the match goes to Adam Lupinski whose saves in the first half kept Shane

in the game. He always delivers and has been in superb form recently.

Shane now look forward to their game against Animals next Sunday at 11am.
