Fine margins as Shane stall against B53
Shane suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of B53 despite a strong team performance at Nangang.
Shane started the game brightly, dominating play for the opening half an hour. Some half-chances came and went with Shane unable to take advantage.
B53 took the lead against the run of play with a sweetly struck solo effort that left keeper Adam Lupinski with no chance.
Shane bounced back almost immediately when Lukas Tschojer cracked a left-footed volley from outside the box - a sure contender for goal of the season.
The teams went into half-time with the scores level with all to play for in the second half.
The second half was a more even affair, with both teams attacking with intent.
B53 added a second to their tally after a lofted free-kick found its way to the far post before being played back across and bundled in.
Again, Shane responded straightaway when Zach Paruch displayed great vision to find Blake Pattenden down the left wing who whipped an early cross for Jose Arraiz Rada to stab home. A classy team goal.
Blake notched up another assist shortly afterwards when his in-swinging corner found the head of Alex Patrascu who duly nodded past the keeper to send Shane into a 3-2 lead.
The game remained an end-to-end affair and B53 brought the scores level once again with a finish from a tight angle.
They scored what turned out to be the winning goal a few minutes later after a chip bounced its way into the net despite the best efforts of Adam and Alex to keep it out.
A setback that sees B53 leapfrog Shane to the top of the table, but leaves Shane pondering what could have transpired on a different day if not for some misfortune and unlucky events. The lads should be proud of the fight they showed throughout.
Although it's now out of their hands, Shane are still in the hunt and will give it their all in their final two matches against B52 and Red Lions.
