A busy December and January schedule saw Mighty Shane reach the cup quarter finals and retain our top-flight status.
We started December with our second cup group game, facing off against Magpies at Nangang.
Keen to build on our previous victory over Vikings, we controlled proceedings but an inspired Magpies keeper frustrated us for large periods of the game. Goals from Lukas and Blake got us over the line and sent us into the quarter finals with a 2-1 win.
Our final group game came against JFC. Anything less than a win for JFC would send them out, whereas we could top the group with a win.
A frustrating afternoon followed as we were wasteful in front of goal and JFC stole it near the end with their first shot of the game. This meant we drew Red Lions for the quarter final.
Sandwiched in-between the action was our Christmas party at Aye Taipei. Aye put on another great party, keeping our bellies full and thirst quenched with a traditional Christmas dinner and plenty of cold beers.
We're delighted to have their support that allows us keep playing football in Taipei.
The next morning, we dragged ourselves out of bed and shook off the sore heads to face off against Red Lions in the cup.
A brave performance ensued with Zach firing us into the lead before we ran out of steam in the second half. A 2-1 loss ended our cup campaign.
We kicked off 2024 with another fixture against Red Lions, this time in the league.
We took advantage of a Lions team which never had more than 10 players on the pitch with a 6-1 victory. Lukas and Sam grabbed two each, with Dan Swift and Moritz also getting in on the action.
Our next game was against last season's champions, B53.
We were excellent from the start, defending well and creating a lot of chances. Alex opened the scoring with a top finish from the edge of the area before B53 equalised on the stroke of half-time. The game finished 1-1, and we came away disappointed with only a draw.
We looked forward to our season finale but were let down on the day of the game when Eagles forfeited due to a lack of players.
The lads can take a well-earned rest now until football in Taiwan kicks off again after Chinese New Year.
In the meantime, we have our awards night next weekend. Keep tuned to see who picks up the coveted awards!
